Lambas are like a sarong, rectangular cotton or silk cloths worn by men and women as skirts, robes, scarves, and head wear. Lambas generally have traditional images and contain proverbs or messages. Lambas play a significant social and cultural role in Malagasy life. In Madagascar people are put into a lamba when they are born and wrapped in one after they die. They are used to spread messages or proverbs and given as gifts.
